Fantastic research being done across Europe looking at the potential impacts both positive and negative on biodiversity. We can't claim renewable energy will improve biodiversity in the local vicinity without appropriate baseline data to track changes over time.

Some fantastic work being done in #Guernsey and its a shame to #Jersey lagging behind. Although I am sure a Jersey state of Nature report will show very similar trends and data deficiencies.

๐ข Higher court issues final judgment in Germany: Old wind turbines must implement curtailment if there is evidence of bat casualties. That applies to more than 18,000 onshore turbines in ๐ฉ๐ช, which causes an estimated 250,000 killed๐ฆper year. Whole ๐ช๐บ should follow!

Insectivorous bats strongly reduce their feeding flight behaviour in response to ground-mounted solar farms ๐ฆ
Such decrease in feeding results in reduced habitat quality, which should be mitigated when solar energy projects are planned ๐
