Whatever one’s views on the politics of Viktor Orbán, two facts are undeniable:
1. Under his leadership, Hungary became the safest place in Europe for Jews; and
2. He was an unflinching supporter of Israel, unwavering in his solidarity with the Jewish state and fearless in standing up to the hordes at the European Union and the United Nations.

Check out my op-ed in today's National Observer where I argue that the federal @NDP missed the mark when it recently elected veteran broadcaster and filmmaker @avilewis as leader.
If there were ever a moment for a party rooted in pragmatic social democracy to make genuine political gains in Canada, that moment would be now.
And yet, in electing Avi Lewis as leader, the NDP appears to have missed the opportunity entirely while turning their backs on the party’s roots as a movement focused on improving the material conditions of working people.
As a longtime Liberal partisan, I could view Lewis’s election purely through a partisan lens.
And while a diminished NDP may well benefit my party electorally, as a Canadian it’s difficult not to see this as a loss for traditional social democracy. #cdnpoli

Hours after Iran and the U.S. reached a ceasefire deal, Israel launched one of its most devastating attacks on Lebanon to date.
Over a hundred strikes in ten minutes - carnage in Beirut, where hundreds of thousands of displaced people are sheltering.
