We got us some of this ‘bathymetry’ here in PWS. It guides the flow of tides, gives home to rockfish & halibut, and occasionally either collapses to create tsunamis or dampens the force of tsunamis. Wild stuff that.

The Taku Glacier near Juneau, Alaska steadily gained mass through the 20th century, like a holdout from a prior ice age. But the glacier’s heyday appears to be over. #GlacialReadsWeekend🧊 Story by @tlydonak l8r.it/60xJ

Today we honor the life and legacy of our beloved Dr. Walter Soboleff, who lived by our traditional tribal values. Take a moment to listen to the words he shared at our 2006 Tribal Assembly. Let us reflect today on his leadership, wisdom, service, kindness and love.

The world of modern marine debris is fascinating. We’re thankful to everyone who is responding and sharing their stories.
In January 2014, thousands of HP printer cartridges were lost overboard from a container ship in the Atlantic Ocean. They've since been found all the way from Florida to Norway. We found this one in Ireland a few weeks ago, 100 metres inland, among marine debris strewn along a lane to the beach.

Lucky for us the war on the war on disinformation has not affected the arena of marine debris. Yet. For now, ppl still believe single-use #plastics harm wildlife, pollute H2O, & deserve reg action. (Condolences to those in journo, #climate, health, etc) washingtonpost.com/technolog…

LOUD NOISES! Did you get the @fema wireless emergency alert test? A #Tsunami Warning is the *ONLY* message that will be transmitted across your WEA-capable phone in a tsunami event. Make sure you have other ways to recieve life-saving information near the coast.

Good thing you don't have to worry about 𝐚𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐝 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐬🦅 These dusky Canada geese aren't so lucky! Cordova Ranger District planted sweet gale in their nests for overhead protection and staked a couple pipes to help obstruct predators
