This week the Labour government is pushing ahead with plans to ban under 16s from social media. Last year my step daughter lost her real father. Many of her final memories with him, voice notes, silly chats, the photos and comments on his profiles etc live on these platforms. It’s where she goes when she misses him most. Those digital remnants are some of the last places his voice and words still exist for her. Under this ban she will be locked out. The government will take away her ability to revisit those memories whenever she needs to. Shes already asked me Why won’t he just leave us alone.. Allot of children go to social media as an escape. Some may not have any friends in real life. Some use it to stay in contact with family members where they have no other means. Some use it to learn, especially things like YouTube. I wouldn’t be surprised to see suicide rates in young children sky rocket. @Keir_Starmer you are the enemy of the people. One day you’re going to feel the burden of that, you aren’t always going to be hidden away in your ivory tower. It is MY job and MY responsibility to decide what’s right for my children and to keep them safe. I urge everyone to speak to their children, ask them what they think to this government. share your stories and tag this treasonous dictator.
