STAAR kick off day was a success! Great conversations were had as students “dumped” their knowledge from the year and helped each other remember key facts. Never seen so much excitement about Federalists and Anti-federalists!
Last day of Red Ribbon Week was dress like your favorite holiday because we celebrate being drug free. Had to get a pic with my students who picked 4th of July!
Brought in an investor today to hear my students pitch out their colonial regions! My students knocked their sales presentations out of the park with slides, costumes, brochures, treat handouts made from products grown in their regions, and even a music video! @IllianaGonzales
STAAR Review is in full swing. Court Cases of the Early Republic Spoons, Industrial Revolution Guess in 3, and Jenga Trivia for the win. Thanks @SSSuccess1 for the great resources! @SecondaryComal@PrmsVipers
Reviewing Reconstruction today Escape Room style. 20 minutes before school started I remembered the library had some boxes and 4 digit locks so that added even more fun! @SecondaryComal
BostonMassacre CSI is one of my favorite lessons. Students are engaged in reading primary source eyewitness accounts, collaborating, debating, and creating a statement to the jury on whether British troops committed murder or acted in self defense.@poormankim @ComalSocStudies
Once you are my student, you will always be my student! When a former student personally invites you to come watch them in the Nutcracker you make sure to be there!!!
Finding this in my 2nd grader’s folder made my U.S. History teacher heart so happy! My favorite part was her saying “you cannot hate” the flag. @ComalSocStudies @poormankim@IllianaGonzales
Spent a lot of time last weekend creating writing workshop, guided essay template, & peer editing to help students create well written essays for our Colonial Stock Prospectus PBL. Seeing results as I grade them make it all worth it! @poormankim @ComalSocStudies @PrmsVipers
Missing my students and remembering the fun we had in class the two days before Spring Break learning about Transcendentalism as well as art and literature in 19th Century America. @PrmsVipers
I feel a little bit like Oprah today! “You get a Constitution. And, you get a Constitution. Everyone gets a Constitution!” @ComalSocStudies @poormankim@PrmsVipers
Breaking up is hard to do... My students had a blast writing break up letters to King George III proving critical writing can be fun! @PrmsVipers@poormankim @ComalSocStudies
