Sticking with Brandon McShankus last season should've been enough to fire Matt LaFleur. Havrisik was terrific until he missed two PATs in a stadium that's really hard to kick in even when it's not brutally windy.

Nice to see Burton looking good early on. Now, the coaches can begin giving him snaps at all five positions.
Matt LaFleur on fifth-round pick Jager Burton, who has gotten work w/the No. 1 O-line in OTAs and minicamp. “I see a guy that’s extremely coachable, athletic and is making the most of his opportunity… He’s definitely going to be in the mix competing for playing time this year.”

With a $13M roster bonus due in March 2028, WR Christian Watson will have to stay healthy and be productive the next two seasons to see year 3 of his extension.

Watson and Jayden Reed are both incredibly unselfish. They remind me of Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb in that regard.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said he was “fired up” for Christian Watson’s contract extension, saying he “embodies” how players should go about their jobs. Said he’s never once complained if he didn’t get the ball.

So basically, college athletes can do whatever the fuck they want because some random local judge will always let them off the hook.
NEWS: A judge in district court in Lubbock County, Texas, has granted the injunction requested by Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby. He’s set to be eligible for the 2026 season.

No, they'll continue to let Josh Jacobs terrorize defenses with 3-yard runs and the occasional 9-yard burst.
Watson basically gets the Alec Pierce contract (4/114) but with a slightly larger signing bonus. Packers now have a $55m/year QB and WRs making $27m & $17m/year. They had the 11th-lowest pass rate on early downs in neutral game scripts last year. Do they throw more often in '26?

I like Christian Watson a lot - both as a player and a person, but I'd be pleasantly surprised if this extension ages well.

No surprise the #Packers extended Watson, and even less of a surprise that it's a ridiculous overpay. Sure, he's very talented, but his career high in catches is 41, and yards is 620. One of these days, GM Brian Gutekunst will make a player actually earn a lucrative extension.
ESPN sources: Green Bay WR Christian Watson and the Packers reached agreement today on a four-year, $110.5 million contract extension that includes a $31 million signing bonus.

Safe to assume Parsons will miss at least the first four games. Hopefully, DTs Devonte Wyatt and Javon Hargrave will be disruptive inside because it's hard to envision any of the current edges having consistent success against above-average offensive tackles.
Five months into his ACL rehab, Micah Parsons said he has four more months to go, saying that they have a strict nine-month rule especially for players who had more than just the ACL tear, revealing that he also had a meniscus procedure.

On paper, the Rams' roster is quite a bit better than the Packers' roster. The Rams also have the better coach. This doesn't mean the Packers can't beat the Rams on the field, but it would take a great effort.

Belton needs all the reps he can get at right guard. Just leave each starting offensive lineman at his position and sign a couple of veterans to back them up. It's only complicated when numbskulls are in charge.
So far at today’s #Packers open-to-the-media OTA: • Rookie Jager Burton at RG, Anthony Belton at RT for rehabbing Zach Tom. (Belton at RG/Darian Kinnard at RT last week.) • Rookie K Trey Smack 5-of-9 on FGs. •Matthew Golden catching everything. • Valentine, McKinney INTs.

As for compensation, a conditional 4 seems about right for Josh Sweat. The pick becomes a 3 if the veteran pass rusher is still on the roster at the start of the new NFL year next March.

No idea if this is true, but Sweat is exactly the type of player this defense needs. He'd give the Packers a legit pass rush while Micah Parsons is out early in the season, and pairing him with Parsons could make the pass rush dominant enough to compensate for the slop at corner.
Hearing the Packers and Cardinals are working on a trade involving Josh Sweat, per source. It is coming down to how much cap the Packers are willing to take, and how high of a pick.

June 1 means the Packers gain an additional $9M of cap space thanks to the prior releases of CB Nate Hobbs and PK Brandon McManus.

A healthy Lloyd would help the offense more than the rapidly aging Jacobs, but a "healthy Lloyd" seems like an oxymoron.

Regardless of what happens with Jacobs, it might be now or never for MarShawn Lloyd. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/4889…

If even a sliver of this turns out to be true, Jacobs should be released ASAP.

$14.5M cap hit for a running back who, even without this serious baggage, averaged less than 4 yards per carry last season. Well, at least the Packers addressed the need for improved depth at running back in April's dra... oh, never mind. #Gutekunsted
#Packers star RB Josh Jacobs has turned himself in to Hobart/Lawrence PD.

I've been touting A.J. Epenesa for months. He's a solid veteran edge who could fill in for Micah Parsons if none of the unproven young players step up.
The always insightful @MattBowen41 believes the Packers are a fit for one of the top remaining free agents. Details here: espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/4875…
