"Thank you for believing in kids who don't even believe in themselves yet." One of my graduating students drew me a tribute (a Pakistani pepper...GET IT?!). She also left me a letter... I AM NOT CRYING! YOU'RE CRYING!

Kpop has consistently and so casually engaged in the use of anti-black slurs, that I really don't put it down to ignorance any more. At this point, Kpop is global enough that they have all the resources in the world to learn. This is intentional.

Mangaka Yusuke Murata (One Punch Man) recently made ableist comments mocking Pakistanis with physical deformities while responding to an anti-immigration post. A reminder that bigotry often does not stand alone; ableism, racism and xenophobia frequently intersect.

I feel like many of the accounts that I see posting 2000's anime are just rage-baiting. Because they'll see something like, ".hack//Sign is peak! They don't make them like this anymore! Could not be made in 2026!" And you just know .hack//Sign wasn't even that good bro.

"For the best experience, choose whichever language you feel drawn to. Grief is a universal experience." I think this is the first time I actually paused and reflected on the *language* choices in a game. Amazing. TY @lunacy_studios for the review copy #TheHouseofHikmah

There's a term for this: "activity-based identities." Stans are people who have made a specific activity their identity. So if you point out anything wrong with the activity--be it a Kpop group, an anime, a video game, etc.? Stans will see it as an attack on their identity.

I don’t get why people feel that if you’re a fan of someone or something, that you have to defend everything that they do. I think spectrum of fandom has shifted so much because stans are so insane now that regular fans behave like how stans in the past would.

I previewed House of Hikmah, a puzzle platformer inspired by the Islamic Golden Age. We simply don't see this setting enough in games & I'm loving it. Sands of Time vibes? Wishlist on Steam and best of luck to @lunacy_studios for dev & launch! 🔗In reply #indiegame

NO Retrocrush! @retrocrush_tv Take that demon out of "cozy anime"! What are you going to do the poor people who will watch the anime and then want to "finish the story" by looking up the manga! You know which one I'm talking about!

I see a new #Danganronpa has been announced. Loved the first two. Might have to finally play Danganronpa 3. Started it but got bored. Just hate how Kaede doesn't do anything. She just hangs around lol

Always funny when a Kdrama does something problematic and fans go: "NO--THE ACTORS/WRITERS/PRODUCERS DIDN'T KNOW; STOP JUDGING THEM!" Bro, there is no need to infantilize Kdrama creatives like that. Kdramas have the capability to have garbage politics like everyone else.

Eid Mubarak everyone. On this day of celebration and contemplation, please keep in your prayers the less fortunate for whom these days will not bring good memories. And work for a world where everyone's next Eid brings with it a better world than the one they had last year.

This is why I never, ever take Black Mirror seriously. Consume that "socially conscientious" slop while its creators laugh all the way to the bank by doing that very thing.
Netflix is launching AI-generated ads by 2026 • Designed to match the show or movie being watched • Some will appear as midroll ads or during pause breaks • Will roll out to all countries with the ad-supported tier

Dropped #WhenLifeGivesYouTangerines after Ep4. Could not connect with leads' feeling for each other. Their "love" was just posed as a given since the beginning--nothing I saw developed or earned it for me. And that's not an emotion I can connect with in this stage of life.

"At the time of my original review, I said... ...and someone in the development team took that PERSONALLY" 😅 I have been playing Oddsparks by @MassiveMiniteam since the days of Early Access. I share why it's become a personal fav I consistently go back to. 🔗 in reply!

I am not going to quote it, but anyone who tries to discredit Final Fantasy by comparing it to ANY other RPG is 100% not a gamer. Because I guarantee the devs--being actual gamers--would recognize that EVERY RPG of the modern era owes something to Final Fantasy #Expedition33

Watched #TraumaCode. Solid, if unremarkable, drama. JUST fast-paced enough, JUST short enough & JUST exciting enough to make you forget its characters have no substance. No depth beyond "oh, the doctors care; nice." Also, a merc that's a good human? Gimme a break, Deadpool.

I regularly rewatch Man From Nowhere. Or at least I used to. Against my better judgment, I tried to rewatch it. Watching a kid Kim Sae Ron--hugging an elder that she trusted--absolutely broke me. I don't think I'll be rewatching it anymore.

This post by @kelatonin is a perfect example of why "informing people" is tough online. 1) offer info from a point of expertise 2) get blocked It's frustrating to engage in a genuine conversation when people have accepted that their ignorance is more valid than your expertise.
A person blocked me on the butterfly app for trying to clear up for them what involvement agencies do/don’t have in the game production pipeline (hint: none at all), so… Here are the screenshots of my replies so everyone can learn!

This is the endgame for companies that encourage having a product be your whole identity.* *Think "Kpop stans." Parasocial relationships & gatekeeping are acceptable evils. The real desired outcome is for a "stan" to spend more money on a product than any reasonable human.
I hate how every hobby now is priced for just the whales. You can’t be casually into anything, they want their player bases to be die hard fans who make it their entire life.
