A govt that wants relief has not just raised the price of petrol, it has raised the petroleum levy from Rs 105 to Rs 161 per litre. That is the highest ever tax on petrol in the history of Pakistan.
It collects Rs 24 / litre as customs duty.
And hilariously, it collects Rs 2.5 per litre as a climate support levy, to discourage the use of dirty fuels. But the same govt increased the levy on high octane petrol, which is cleaner, from Rs 100 to Rs 300 telling people to use cheaper and dirtier fuel.
Please explain the logic...

اگر حکومت منتخب ہوتی تو اس وقت عوام کو تحفظ دینے اور تیل کی قیمتوں میں اضافے کے اثر کو کم کرنے کے لیے ایندھن پر ٹیکس کم کرتی۔ لیکن اس کے برعکس، فارم 47 کی غیر منتخب حکومت نے پیٹرول اور ڈیزل پر ٹیکس بڑھا دیے اور اس کا بوجھ پاکستانیوں پر مزید ڈال دیا۔ کیا وہ لوگوں کو انہیں ووٹ نہ دینے کی سزا دے رہے ہیں؟

An elected govt would have decreased taxes on fuel at this time to protect the public & offset the rise in oil price. Instead, the unelected form 47 govt increased taxes on petrol/diesel & compounded its impact on Pakistanis. Are they punishing the ppl for not voting for them?

The new price of petrol is Rs 458.41 per litre. It was increased by Rs 134 per litre last night. This increase includes an increase of Rs 55 in petroleum levy. So the government decided to increase tax on petrol by Rs 55 at the same time it was raising prices.
So let’s understand this. The government last night raised petrol prices by Rs 79 per litre but at the same time also decided to raise taxes on petrol by Rs 55 for a total increase of Rs 134 per litre. And it keeps saying it doesn’t want to burden the people and wants to lift the burden itself. Theek ho gaya.
