JUST IN: Second has launched Bark on Bitcoin mainnet, bringing the Ark protocol to production and aiming to make self-custodial Bitcoin as simple to use as custodial apps. Bark is designed to solve one of Bitcoin’s biggest challenges: self-custody without sacrificing user experience. While on-chain transactions can be slow and expensive during periods of congestion, and traditional Lightning wallets often require users to manage channels and liquidity, Ark takes a different approach. The protocol uses a client-server architecture where the server handles payment routing across Ark, Lightning, and on-chain rails, while users remain in control of their bitcoin and retain an emergency exit if the server becomes unavailable or malicious. The launch marks one of the most significant real-world deployments of Ark to date, as developers continue searching for ways to make self-custodial Bitcoin accessible to mainstream users without relying on traditional custodians.

Assuming BIP-110 does not have widespread support come August and has too little hashrate resulting in a permanent chain split, I have a new proposal for users who want to use Bitcoin for data storage...just go use the BIP-110 chain after it forks off. Simply create new meta protocols to stitch together smaller chunks of data still allowed by their ruleset and use the free airdrop tokens you just received on their chain to pay the fees. You can use all the BIP-110 nodes for "permanent" data storage for as long as they keep them going (which admittedly might not be that long). Seems like a win-win if they do keep them running though.

"I realize now that you really enjoy spam" That's a strawman. I'm not defending spam. I'm defending the line between policy (what Core v30 relaxed) and consensus rules. Node runners can reject the policy change with Knots or older versions. No network split required. "Broken Core governance" Bitcoin Core doesn't have governance. They do what they want. This is how it's been done since inception. If you don't like it, you can use a different implementation or FORK OFF. On soft forks: Yes, they tighten rules like SegWit and Taproot did. Segwit and Taproot had enough support (segwit actually had consensus), but every soft fork changes the active ruleset. I went on WBD to correct Mechanic's lies about BIP110 being the same as BIP148. What do you think i said that wasn't true?
