Mormonism teaches the heresy that God had a physical body. Obviously this springs forth a multitude of issues. God’s unchanging essence, His being Pure Act (Actus Purus), being His own existence without change or potentiality. Ipsum Esse Subsistens (Summa Theologica . I q. 3 a. 4)
This is stated throughout the entire Bible (Malachi 3:6 , James 1:17, defined in Fourth Lateran Council and Vatican I) and yet Mormon’s create their own hypothesis. Their God had a father, who had a father, ad infinitum, is an “exalted man”— a physical being made of earthly matter— who apparently progressed to godhood.
Another thing is, they reject creatio ex nihilo, that God willed the natural world into existence out of nothing. God is Pure Act. His intellect is equal to his Infinite Being, so when he thinks or wills something , unlike us, who may be able to create some cheap imitation of a thought, his is a perfect, living being that fully is itself.
Mormons believe, it’s matter that is eternal and uncreated, not Our Father. Which blows my mind. They view God as a craftsmen of sorts, organizing preexisting chaotic matter not creating.
Little do they know it’s God’s infinite goodness, and love that’s keeping them together right now. If He so chose, without his constant willing, we would fall out of existence. So they may want to give thanks to him instead of chalking up God’s great creation as eternal matter.
