Update: Instagram finally restored my account. Here’s hoping the exploit is truly fixed this time (I had recovered it many times over the past few months, only to be hacked again) All my photos dating back to 2016 were deleted, but at least I am back in

Meta allowed my single character Instagram username (@i) to be stolen through an exploit in their platform, dating back to February this year. My email, password and phone number were never compromised — yet somehow a hacker was able to gain access to my account 🧵

After I kept recovering the account, the hacker was able to get the account banned for “account integrity” — I would appeal this and it would get reinstated, only for the hacker to be able to get it banned again.

Literally a minute after my account was reinstated, it was banned again This has been a back and forth for months

They would continually fix my account, and then it would get overridden and hacked again. I have over 85 emails with their support. Then they said they could no longer help me as this was an “unauthorized request” — I have been the owner of this account for over ten years.

While I do believe UMG conspired against Drake, Apple vs Spotify USA charts are always usually different. Apple has much higher uptake on R&B/hip-hop music.

The music industry is run like a cartel. Those in the cartel are all on the same team, covertly working together to siphon billions away from artists in a number of nuanced ways and to stifle independent companies.

Since PROs (including APRA) get their money upfront — they are not incentivized to make sure that money is accurately distributed to songwriters. Regardless of how many streams the PRO’s catalogue gets — they get paid the same amount per the negotiated fee.

There should be a global and transparent solution for digital performance royalties. Almost every artist in the world misses out on significant income because of those opaque system. The music business is meant to be extremely complex to stop artists receiving their royalties.
