If you think your pet is suffering from Heatstroke please call the vets immediately. It is important to recognise the symptoms which include, panting excessively, lethargy, weakness, incoordination, drooling and vomiting.
Brachycephalic breeds such as pugs and bull dogs suffer more in summer due to the fact that they are unable to control their temperature as other breeds so always be extra careful if you have these breeds.
Walking dogs (or ferrets/rabbits/cats!!) go at cooler times such as early morning or evening. If walking when it is very hot remember that your wearing shoes but your pet isn't. If you can't touch the floor without it burning you then it's too hot for your pet.
If your pet is kept outside making sure they have access to somewhere nice and shady and checking that they have plenty of fresh water will help.
