I’ve been in the space since August 2021, and this past week I finally found my way to @6529Museum for Keys & Gates.
What I’ve found is the kind of community I haven’t experienced in a long time. New frens encouraging me to mint more of my abstract art, not just my photography. Old frens showing me the way, introducing me to others, and walking me through everything I need to know! 🫂
“Branching Out” was created during an art therapy session in 2023 using sterile medical needles as my paintbrush. Created on Stonehenge Aqua Coldpress Black paper with layers of neon & metallic liquid watercolors, I was branching out from my usual process and experimenting with new techniques.
Instead of starting over when it wasn’t coming together the way I imagined, I decided to see where a different path might lead…

GM GM! Since I'm completely new to 6529, I figured I'd share a little about my submission.
When I'm shooting on 35mm film, I'm often taking familiar everyday moments and transforming them into something unexpected. I came across these altered one-way street signs in Chicago and the contradiction was impossible to ignore. My brain couldn't make sense of what I was seeing, so I instinctively turned my camera upside down and photographed it from that perspective.
As I stood there, I kept hearing that robotic GPS voice in my head saying "Recalculating" over and over again. The title stuck, and years later it felt like the perfect photograph to submit to Keys and Gates @6529Museum.

Realizing that we are not alone in challenging moments can shift the way we see life. Through my own journey, I came to understand that feelings I once thought were deeply personal are often shared by many. This awareness created a quiet awakening within me. There were days I felt like this moment would never come, but my faith was stronger than my doubts.
