In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the veteran legislator lauded the initiative as a deliberate commitment to building a modern town capable of driving economic growth, social development, and improved quality of life for residents. “The long-awaited 65-kilometre Urban Roads Project, conceived over two decades ago and now at an advanced stage of implementation, marks a defining milestone in Wajir’s urban transformation,” Keynan stated. The project falls under the Development of Urban Roads in Five Counties in Arid and Semi-Arid Areas (ASALs) programme, implemented through the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA). It is estimated to cost around USD 35 million and aims to upgrade 31 town roads, significantly enhancing connectivity within Wajir. Keynan extended special thanks to President William Samoei Ruto for his “extraordinary and decisive” leadership in dismantling long-standing political, administrative, and socio-economic bottlenecks.
