I quit drinking 15 years ago today. Most of y’all know the story by now. It was 2009 and I had been spiraling downward for years thanks to a combination of depression and alcohol. My wonderful boss offered me the opportunity to get sober and the idea just clicked in my booze-addled brain. It was, quite simply, an epiphany from my very first day of treatment. I am incredibly lucky because I haven’t had a serious thought about taking a drink since that moment of clarity 5,475 days ago. My message to you, as always, is that if you’re worried about overdoing booze or pills, talk to someone. Don’t wait anymore. Find an AA meeting, sit your ass down and listen. You’ll quickly discover there are lots of people like you who’ve faced this shit head on and now seem to be living nice normal lives without the chaos of addiction. When you’re ready, tell your story honestly and ask them what you should do to stay sober. Then take that advice. Don’t overthink it. Just do it. And remember, sobriety is cool. Something else happened during those life-changing few weeks a decade and a half ago: I met a woman named Kim Metheny. We connected via Match shortly after I got sober. She claims she was just looking for a date to a Christmas party, not a soulmate. Yet, that’s exactly what she was for me then and still is today. She’s my best friend too. We’ve been on some amazing adventures, we laugh a lot, and we’ve combined a couple of families into a big crazy collection of kids and grandkids. Mrs. Jones is creative, artistic, hilarious, hard-working and kind. She even has a way cooler job than me. She helps run an amazing non-profit called BigHearted Blooms that delivers thousands of bouquets of repurposed flowers to people who need a little joy in their life. She’s also gorgeous. After 15 years of sobriety, I’m incredibly grateful for the life I have. But I am most grateful for the woman I share it with. I love you baby…and thanks.

Last day of our Men’s Invitational at Hillcrest CC. Very minimal growth on the greens today, pictured is two greens’ worth of clippings after a double cut. The limited growth helps provide consistent green speeds throughout the day.

If you want to be great at something, it's going to ask more of you. The real question is whether the people around you care about your whole life, not just your output. Our latest episode with Connor Healy, Golf Course Superintendent at @CFgolfclub discusses the importance of work-life balance and how his leadership style always ensures that a people-first approach takes priority. When you create an environment that values the balance, it allows your team to feel comfortable in approaching concern when they feel one or the other is tipping the scale.  Catch the full episode of #LeadershipontheLinks at bloomgolfpartners.com/podcas…🎙️ #LeadershipOnTheLinks #GolfSuperintendent #PrivateClub #GolfIndustry

Kudos to the @clevemetroparks golf division for hosting a very successful @TheFirstGreen event for youngsters in their @FirstTee junior golf program. About 30 kids learned about math, biology, soils and tools of the trade from the agronomy team. Big fun with a great purpose!

If you know Tony Mancuso you’ll understand what a great addition he is to the Bunker Solution team. 👍👍👍
We are very proud to announce that one of golf/turf industry’s most respected experts, Tony Mancuso, has joined the Bunker Solution team as Director of Sales for the Asia-Pacific region. From his base in Hua Hin, Thailand, Tony will oversee sales and provide support for clubs looking to upgrade their bunkers to a technology that requires less maintenance and less sand! Bunker Solution also provides better playability and performance than any of the alternatives. Mancuso has been an agronomic leader in the U.S. and Asian turf markets for more than 40 years. He’s overseen maintenance and construction at top clubs including New Albany CC, Bellerive CC, Cherokee Town & CC, Belmont CC, Escondido GC, and Haesley Nine Bridges GC in South Korea. “Throughout my career, bunker quality has been a constant challenge,” said Mancuso. “That is why I am so enthusiastic about Bunker Solution. In my opinion, it is the most innovative and weather-resistant bunker drainage system available today. It improves drainage, manages water consistently, withstands downpours, reduces contamination, and maintains top bunker performance. Bunker Solution is the answer to one of the industry's oldest problems.” Kevin Clark, the founder and CEO of Bunker Solution, says Mancuso will hit the ground running as demand continues to grow globally: “Tony is a perfect addition to our team at just the right time. I urge clubs, architects and developers around APAC to reach out to him to find out more about our system and why it’s so valuable to facilities.” “I look forward to reconnecting with friends and colleagues throughout the golf industry and sharing how Bunker Solution can help courses finally get bunkers that will last,” he said. Mancuso can be reached at tony@bunkersolution.com, 7705601617 (US) or 66808309501 (Thailand). Bunker Solution is a unique patented bunker lining system, created two decades ago by Golf Course Superintendent, Kevin Clark. Hundreds of clubs all over the world have now used the technology, which carries a 15-year warranty, to improve playability, reduce labor costs, use less sand and stay cleaner longer. ⏳ Don’t wait for stress to show up. By the time wilt or dry spots appear, turf has already been under pressure for days. 🙀 Now’s the time to focus on consistent moisture management before summer heat intensifies. A proactive approach helps maintain consistency, improve water efficiency, and reduce drought stress. 🌱☀️ #ProTip #SummerPrep

These guys are the unsung heroes - try managing turf with dull blades. Try grinding a reel yourself and get a nice cone. Without working machines does it matter how good anything else is?

In a recent survey of golf course equipment managers by @bloom_golf and @PatJonesTweets, 58% of respondents had more than 20 years experience while only 5% had less than 5 years. This points to challenges in the pipeline and is one of the key findings 👉bit.ly/4nEQUYU
