In a previous role, Lenny was my PM mentor that didn’t exist in my own org. Thank you @lennysan. A newsletter has to be pretty damn good to be better than real humans around you day to day.
Heart, full.

This is one of those skills that a lot of people in tech think they have. But people who can do this effectively are incredibly rare unicorns.

There is insane demand for people who can understand and explain technology in a compelling way.

"PMs need to work 60 hours a week to be successful." It's bullshit. What isn't bullshit? PMs need to *think* about their product 80 hours a week. When you do this, your 40-50 hour work weeks become much more optimized than everyone else who's slogging 60 hours.

Why are so many vibe coded products just regurgitations of things that already exist? - Habit tracking - To do lists - Fitness - etc. Where’s the creativity?! Non-technical people now have the ability to actually be creative and so many aren’t actually being creative.

In order to better understand how to position Vibe Updater relative to PM pain points, I ran a positioning test on r/ProductManagement. Which do you think won? Creatives in the first reply (can't attach to poll). Answers in the second reply.

My take on next steps: - Speed is the winner - Having 1 leading val prop enables positioning clarity - Overall all 3 were close - Lead copy with speed, but leverage other two val props as supporting

Also FWIW, average Reddit CTRs for ads is 0.2-0.4%. So all 3 were within a normal range.

If you're vibe coding, I highly recommend watching the agent narrate. Granted, it's not going to teach you how to code or how app development works. But you'll understand at a high level how things are interconnected to bring it all together. And occasionally you catch issues.

You would be amazed at how much better people communicate with you when you break up slack messages or emails into bullets or separated paragraphs. The massive paragraph blob terrifies me. Make it easier on your recipient. They are more likely to respond that way.

When vibe coding, don’t forget to check for potential pre-existing integrations 🤩🤩

Now that I have a working MVP of Vibe Updater, I realize how easy it is to get sucked into development work that doesn't matter. There's so many little optimizations I could do, that frankly don't matter at this stage. Must remain focused on what truly matters.

The unicorns are able to put their “product hat” on. But they are unicorns.

engineers are bad at product because they easily get sucked into rabbit holes of optimization they "fix" problems while making the product worse you can see this in the coding agent space - everyone is enamored with the latest trick to make the LLM seem like it's working better

Is it just me, or do people seem more obsessed with getting a good sleep score instead of evaluating if they actually feel well rested?

That feeling when you spent an hour getting through: One increment for One milestone for One new feature But finally get there. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫
