Public companies have one obligation: returns for shareholders.
The AI race is becoming a financial instrument. Safety is barely a consideration.
We recently submitted a confidential S-1. We expect it to leak so we’re just announcing it. We have not decided on timing yet; it may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company. But it’s a complicated set of tradeoffs and this gives us the option to go public sooner if that ends up being best.

AI policy expert, Risto Uuk, pushed back on the idea that we can't stop AI development and he's right. A handful of people are making the decisions that got us here. A handful of people could make different ones.
Development isn't a force of nature, it's a choice. Incentives can change, and people can agree to pause.
