This is American tourist John Rudat, who was left permanently disfigured after he stepped in to prevent the rapes of two German girls at the hands of Syrian asylum seekers in Dresden, Gernany.
According to police investigators, 21-year-old Syrian Majid A. first attacked Rudat's girlfriend, hitting her in the head. Rudat jumped in to stop the attack. Video footage reviewed by police shows Majid beating him up before his accomplice Ismail Alhadja then approached him, pulled out a knife, and slashed him across the face. They cut his nose off.
Majid was arrested at the scene, but Ismail went on the run before police caught up with him, arresting him today.
