Homicides are down YTD in DC: 33% city-wide, w/ similar reductions in both ONSE Priority Communities & OAG Cure the Streets Target Areas. This is a testament to the hard work of DC’s public safety ecosystem- including DC’s violence intervention & prevention professionals.

Nevertheless, homicides & shootings are still much higher than pre-pandemic. We must remain focused & continue to bring the rates of violence down, until children feel safe playing at every playground & businesses feel safe opening in every neighborhood.
