PFI is a North American trade association promoting energy independence through the efficient use of clean, renewable, densified biomass fuel. Wood pellets, etc
Logging to develop forest products can be beneficial! In some cases, logging can help an ecosystem in need of disturbance & regeneration.
It's best to consult professional foresters who can provide science- and place-based plans for forest management.

Did you know?: The wood pellet sector consumes over 5 million tons of sawmill residuals, 1.3 million tons of wood product manufacturing residuals and 6 million tons of other woody residuals every year? This maximizes the value of every harvested log. #nationalforestproductsweek22
With only a few months left of the year, make sure you take advantage of the 2021-2022 Tax Credit on Wood and Pellet stoves. For more information, check out our blog posts on the current and upcoming tax credits and which appliances qualify.
The last stop in the wood pellet supply chain are the proprietors of hearth stores. We stopped in to visit Chad @TheStoveDepot yesterday to talk about the heating season, pellet demand, the impact of the tax credit on appliance sales. #nationalforestproductsweek22
A man in his element. Pat Curran at @curranrenewables has spent a life in the woods, sustainably managing them and finding ways to add value. Spent a day with him this week to celebrate #nationalforestproductsweek22. Thanks Pat.
Not sure I could have picked a better place to celebrate #nationalforestproductsweek22. @curranpellets is a sterling example of sustainable use of our forest resource. Pat Curran is an impressive professional. Happy to have him in our association.
Today marks the start of #NationalForestProductsWeek, which celebrates the important role forests play in our environment and value of forest products in our economy. Share with us what forest-built products and projects have inspired you.

Hats off to our members putting people to work in this amazing value-added forest products industry we work in. PFI is on the road for the first half of the week, seeing forest products manufacturing in New York and Vermont. #nationalforestproductsweek
Top industry concerns expressed at Maine Forest Products Council meeting:
-Workforce
-Fiber cost and availability
-Loss of loggers
-Fuel prices
-Inflation
-Trucking
These...all might be the same thing (or so interconnected that they can't be distinguished)
Another thing worth noting is the significant difference with regard to volatility. There's been times when pellets got beat by heating oil (slightly and not for long) but the long view tells the whole story.
Happy Arbor Day! #DYK that in the U.S. there are more trees today than there were 100 years ago? And per the @FAO "Forest growth nationally has exceeded harvest since the 1940s." Happy Arbor Day!

We'd welcome @JonVigliotti to learn of the whole story about the wood pellet industry. The sector put to good use over 12.8 million tons of residues that looked just like this last year. pellet.memberclicks.net/asse…
Don't take our word for out. The @EIAgov curates a very good report. The problem with looking at an industry through a drinking straw is you never see the whole picture. eia.gov/biofuels/biomass/#ta…
