Learnt very quickly that my ācommonā accent marked me out, especially working around BBC Radio 3 and 4.
Iāve been very self conscious of it and only recently learning to be proud of who I am.

Received Pronunciation is considered the most prestigious, while accents associated with industrial cities and ethnic minority accents are ranked lowest.
