This. Seen it happen more times than I wish I had. The market is not even alive enough to be indifferent to your feelings. Like kicking a cement wall to get revenge on it for blocking your view. Does not end how you hope it will.
If you take market moves personal, you’re going to do something stupid.

Old friend came to town, We had fun telling his wife and kids ridiculous stories from his younger days. Good times.

This is true. Good prices without any cash flow or logistical pressure are the hardest prices to sell and over time unequivocally the best ones. Not every time, but over time.

This seems self evident but surprisingly is often not. Adding more bushels at low/negative margin is not a path to success.
In grain elevating, more bushels does not always mean more profit. Will not explain.

Competition is good and healthy and I welcome it. On the other hand, if you are flat out lying as a sales tactic, I hope you get all the rewards you deserve from that approach.

Helped my dad put a roof on his porch. He listened to some of my ideas which is uncommon but cool. We helped each other solve problems, we confused each other about math, he taught me some stuff. Great few days.

Possible hot take: Seasonal patterns aren't best used to make you wait to do something, but rather to remind you to think hard about doing something if you haven't already done so by the time the seasonal opportunity arrives.

Taking in one more news item from one more source will not improve your life in any way. Try the opposite for a few days, or forever.

Passing judgment on every decision once you have access to information that was unknown when you made it will paralyze you. Make the best quality decision you can with the information available plus your knowledge and experience. Move on. Repeat forever and you will progress.

Had the privilege to talk to a group of farmers this weekend. Lots of questions along the lines of “why are soybeans up?” I don’t know and it doesn’t matter. My answer sounds flippant but it isn’t. Prices move around. You need revenue in excess of cost. Take it when it’s there.

And I’m not saying this because prices are down tonight. It’s my only answer no matter which way prices go.

An accumulator is a contract with three potential outcomes and everyone involved hopes that only one of them happens. (Yes, I know there is more than one kind of accumulator - doesn't change the tweet.)

My observations as a pretty big user of AI and how I believe it can relate to Ag, and how it cannot First, a delineation People continually conflate automation and ai. Automation is the process of removing intervention from a task, AI is trying to outsource the task completely AI disproportionately is more energy intensive than automation, both in compute and human management effort Before you 'ai' anything, your goal should be to analyze every single component of variable (task) and ask a handful of questions 1. Why is this task done the way it is? 2. Is this the optimal way of doing this task?(you can ask AI this question, or do research yourself) 3. How much human intervention is there currently in task? 4. What is the step by step process of this task?

First you learn things because you have no choice, then you realize how great it is to learn things and it becomes a habit/obsession. All hail the people who learn how to do stuff.

Coffin lids are busting all across the grain belt as premium style contracts rise from the dead to roam the streets once more. Every contract with a premium also has some additional limitations, obligations, and/or other caveats. Everyone involved needs to understand them.
