New fauna on the farm. First whilst shutting up the cows after milking I spied upwards of 20 goldfinches on the electric fence. The phone wouldn't get a good enough shot. Turned the corner on the lane to be met by 4 mallard duck. Got the phone out to click and 5 took off.

Generations of swallows and swifts have used this farm and landscape every autumn as a gathering and feeding spot on their migration in Ireland to start the perilous journey to their wintering grounds in Africa. Accrued knowledge that ensures every autumn they gather here.

Hopefully with my help and those of others where they nest. This will continue for generations of people to come. #nature

The fleeting call of the Curlew on this Wexford dairy farm. Must be 30 years ago I've seen one last in the area.

Since we're all now using inhibitors with our urea based fertiliser, everything will be better. Well, maybe not. We might be making things worse. This paper is short, comprehensible and worth a read, but since no one ever bothers to follow this advice, here's a summary.

No fire for years on the #Blackstairs mountain and then one big blowout of a fire. Can there not be small controlled fires every year? Instead of bureaucracy now delaying applications till it's not season anymore. Anyway some arsonist had their way this year.

Will @RTECountryWide be making the uncensored interview with Professor Paul Matthews available on their podcast series? He was blanked live on air for 8 to 10 seconds.

A nice bit of eucalyptus firewood. Just shows at what stage the growth really comes on. Counting the rings 13/14 years.

It's mandatory I believe to announce when you've been blocked by someone on Twitter. So there it is. 1st time that I know of. Seems to be a lonely individual. Totally worth it.
