In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, on Friday, June 19, customer service at the Central Station, Ed Pastor and Sunnyslope Transit Centers will be closed.

As part of Valley Metro's ongoing heat mitigation efforts, shade canopies are being installed at the Baseline/Central Ave Park-and-Ride to keep riders and their vehicles cool.
Work begins this Thursday, June 11. Some parking stalls will be temporarily unavailable as work progresses, with Phase 1 impacting parking in the east lot nearest Central Avenue.

Today we celebrate one year of service of the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub!
On June 7, 2025, Phoenix celebrated the grand opening of the 5.5 mile addition of light rail, connecting South Phoenix to Downtown and creating the first two-line system.

We’re celebrating one-year of service for the South Central Extension/Downtown Hub! 🎉🙌🚊
The extension connected south Phoenix to the region's growing light rail network, adding 5.5 miles of track, eight new stations, and Arizona's first two-line light rail system, connecting at the downtown hub. Since opening on June 7, 2025, more than 2 million riders have used the extension, accounting for approximately 20% of all Valley Metro rail boardings.👏
Thank you to our riders, community member, staff, and the many partners who helped bring this project to life. Happy one-year anniversary to the South-Central Extension/Downtown Hub! 🎉🎉
