It's a beautiful double launch & it's nice to be in the 2 biggest sports, but I dont have high expectations. A424 looks like a low cost & low risk project with its old F2 engine that was designed by the trainees of a Mecachrome subsidiary, & is laid out inside the car like an F2,

Red Bull ended my sabbatical and hired me to replace Adrian Newey. Here’s the 2026 car I designed last night. It’s more of a 2039 concept, but I’ll pretend it fits. Time to brush up on the 2026 regs. Plus, like Newey, I focused on the internal layout and packaging first.

This looks like the A524 that should have started 7-8 months ago. The rear half of the A523 bodywork is now completely gone & the car is now more or less in line with what the other teams are doing since 12 months.

Reshaped sidepod flancs. The top ramps down in a different manner and the bottom looks more sculpted but it retains the outwashy shape near the 'Binance'. The new cannons and their exit follows other cars.

This means that the A524 is the only car with the outwashy undercut, and that atleast 8 of the remaining cars have that specific sidepod flanc shape that RB19 started.

2026 was THE opportunity to catch up and become competitive again*, but it seems Renault, which was once a courageous and ambitious competitor, preferred to run away with its tail between its legs and opt for low-cost again. So the Renault spirit is officially dead.

2- some of the cumbersome elements of the undercut have been moved away, like this engine tank (water header tank or gaz tank for the pneumatic valves) which moved from underneath the rads to the bib area under the driver

This shows how Alpine created more space below and in front of the radiators, the undecut area (but is not using that freed space yet). 1- the radiators have been reshaped/reoriented/raised. They used to have a quite simple & long rectangle shape in '22 & '23.
