Applied math lab at UNC’s Department of Mathematics. We combine theory and experiments to address problems that find motivation in physics and engineering.
🚨 Galloping Bubbles 🚨
New spontaneous symmetry breaking causes bubbles to move perpendicular to the driving force. Congrats to @Jamesguan1990, @saifulitamim, and Connor Magoon for your excellent work! Thanks to H. Stone for collaborating! More to come!

🚨Diffraction of Walking Drops by a Standing Faraday Wave🚨
Congratulations to Bauyrzhan Primkulov, Davis Evans, @ValeriFrumkin, and John Bush for leading this work! Great to collaborate with friends!

🚨 Anderson Localization of Walking Droplets 🚨
We demonstrate that walking droplets over random submerged topography can spontaneously localize like a wave, similar to quantum particles in disordered media.

🚨 Minimal quantization model in Pilot-Wave Hydrodynamics 🚨
We identify and analytically approximate the spatio-temporal nonlocal forces responsible for the orbital quantization of walking droplets.

Deadline for abstract submission extended until March 15 for 2nd Spanish Fluid Mechanics Conference: sfmc23.cimne.com. Eager to listen to our invited speakers M. Ávila @marcavila81 (ZARM), R. Fdez Feria (U. Málaga) and M. Rubí (UB).
See you all in BCN! @la_UPC , @cimne

📢🚨Excited to share our latest work just published in @Nature where we combine experiments and theory to show how wave-coupled particles lead to very rich collective phenomena. Thank you to all who contributed to this project! nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
