For Afrikaners, May 31 is also “Bittereinderdag”. (Bitter Ender Day) It commemorates the Bittereinders during the final phase of the Second Boer War of Independence (1899–1902) who refused to surrender and fought to the “bitter end” for their independence, even when military victory seemed impossible. Today we remember their perseverance until the end of the war with the signing of the Peace of Vereeniging (May 31, 1902). We also remember later Afrikaner milestones such as the Republic Day on May 31, 1961. May the bravery of the Bittereinders live on in our descendants.

Farm murders in South Africa are not organic. Under the glare of international attention, they fell to a 36-yr low. Nobody believes that disgruntled farmworkers or common thieves care about international attention. So who does?

Had a chat about gun control with Jeremy Vearey on RSG this AM, and he made some really good points. Firstly, that the CFR needs to be taken away from SAPS - the police are too corrupt to manage it. Second, that provinces should be able to choose their gun control legislation.

Elon Musk has raised a very serious issue: the South African government allegedly wanted him to operate in the country through fake fronting, while some government officials demanded bribes for Starlink to be allowed to operate. These allegations cannot simply be dismissed. They are raising serious concerns, and South Africans must demand clear answers on how American and other foreign companies are operating in our country. We may assume that foreign companies are complying with the law, but in reality, many are not — they are reportedly paying bribes to government officials to do business. Musk’s allegations warrant investigation by the Madlanga Commission. It should examine how Microsoft, Amazon, and other American and foreign companies are operating in South Africa, and identify the individuals who are the beneficiaries of the 30% ownership requirements.

Earthset. The Artemis II crew captured this view of an Earthset on April 6, 2026, as they flew around the Moon. The image is reminiscent of the iconic Earthrise image taken by astronaut Bill Anders 58 years earlier as the Apollo 8 crew flew around the Moon.

If you want to see if a citizen run service delivery system would work and if everyone will willingly contribute (ie one that removes all government control), just try to enclose your block and ask residents for contributions to do security. 25% contribution if you lucky!
