Absolutely picture perfect weather to kick off our 12-game home stand vs. Worcester and Syracuse. We even had @scherzerthegroundsdog overseeing our work.

Monday’s after a home stand are typically an aeration day at CCP, but yesterday we also topdressed 25 tons of sand with it and brushed in whatever sand the aerator didn’t work in. Two week home stand starts next week. @sambray_sb

Saturday night started with a long pregame rain delay, which shortened the game to seven innings. This was the mound after those seven innings, even with some light rain early on. Job well done @sambray_sb for providing this quality surface and what you have brought to the crew.

Added a 4 to the back of the mound tonight to recognize Lou Gehrig Day and the battle against ALS.
June 2nd marks Lou Gehrig Day, increasing awareness of the ALS disease that took the life of Lou Gehrig and continues to take the lives of too many people each year. Join Baseball as we celebrate Lou Gehrig Day.

Here’s a step-by-step look at how we paint our logos each week. Due to time and staffing constraints, we use aerosol paint for our logos. This can lead to some thinning of turf, especially in tight corners and edges, if you’re not careful. So we like to use some hard stencils

that we made for our Toyota logos. It makes it safer for the turf , crisper edges, and faster, as each Toyota logo takes about 15-20 minutes. We typically paint on Tuesdays and Fridays during a typical home stand.

Despite a few wet days, we celebrated Memorial Day weekend w/ several special activities & military honors. We dressed up the mound and plate for the last game of the series. Thank you to all military personnel, both past & present, & their families for their service & sacrifice.

A lot of familiar sentiments about the privilege to do this job and what goes into everything done day in and day out to provide a great playing surface. Congratulations Barney on a great career and to your next chapter.

A ‘Pigs road trip usually involves dialing in the clay areas. Repair holes from Sunday, check slope w/ slope gauge and/or laser, plate compact to tighten everything up and smooth out cleat dimples, patch remaining pock marks, slick clay, add conditioner, and add moisture.

I’m very proud of the family that the Lord has blessed us with and also very proud of the work that I get to do every day. Thank you to John Kmitta and SportsField Management Magazine for the article that highlights both. Link to article in my bio. @FieldExperts

17 games plus workouts in 3.5 weeks will put some wear on the field, especially the mound and other high traffic areas. The 1st pic shows the dimples, cleat marks, and wear after conditioner was stripped..

This week included reshaping the sides/back of the mound and regrading the 1B/leadoff area. The process includes tilling in new infield mix bring it back up to grade, compacting it, shaving and re-compacting it until the grade is achieved, and adding conditioner to be game ready.
