In Church News Today this Monday, Dec. 22: A service missionary is finding joy in serving the community and the Lord after losing both of his legs. Elder Emmett Oakley’s right leg was amputated after a bone infection in 2021. And then his left leg was amputated last year while serving his mission. Despite these setbacks, he says he found the strength to carry on. He testified that Jesus Christ “does not abandon us in hardships.” Members of the Church are finding that using different translations of the Bible is helping their understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ. One man said comparing multiple translations gives him insights that increases appreciation of the scriptures. He also uses them in his teaching to help students avoid misunderstandings. This week’s study guide in “Come, Follow Me” focuses on the Savior and “The Living Christ” document. Quotes from Church leaders past and present testify of the Savior’s birth and divine mission.
