After seeing Kyrie play a bit I’m open to him being a Piston. My realistic opinions for Detroit might be Kyrie, Yaxel, Aaron Wiggins and/or Isaiah Joe, and possibly Middleton.

Cade Cunningham was relentless this season in the way he controlled the game, created opportunities for his teammates, and delivered in the biggest moments. A second-time NBA All-Star and first-time All-Star starter, Cade was the only player in the league to earn Eastern Conference Player of the Month honors twice during the 2025-26 season. He averaged a career-high 9.9 assists per game, ranking second in the NBA. When you consistently lead by example, you are recognized as the @Ally Relentless Player of the Year. On Cade’s behalf, Ally will be donating money to @EasternMarket in his honor.

This is the most empty report ever. Obviously he’s getting more than $30 mil. The question is what team is going to offer him anywhere close to $40 that he wants.
Jalen Duren is reportedly expected to command more than $30 million per year on the open market, per @TimBontemps “Sources around the league say they believe Duren will get more than $30 million per year. The question for Detroit is how big that number will get. As Langdon said, a hefty price tag for Duren cuts down on the Pistons' future flexibility quite a bit.” (Via espn.com/nba/story/_/id/4901…)

I still believe the best case scenario for Detroit is to trade up for Yaxel and fill the 2 spot in free agency.

Replying to @DetroitPistons
@DetroitPistons offseason: Their path branches out depending on their decision during the draft. They can stay put at 21, they can move up for Yaxel, or they can move up for Carr. Depending on that decision their whole offseason shifts. #detroitbasketball

Cade Carr Ausar Kawhi N/A Cade Carr Ausar Murphy/Reid Duren/Stew/Reed? Cade Carr Ausar Portis/Harris/Collins/Rui/etc Duren The team will fall into one of these 3 scenarios based on the player targeted. Kawhi’s contract puts him in a category of his own given we have to match.

The trade package in order to move up also must be kept in mind because that will diminish our assets to some extent. The assumption is that pick 21 or a future first & Stew or Ron would be involved. Ideally for future trades you would hope it’s a future first plus Ron.

Option B: move up for Yaxel This will be Detroit making a move for a long term solution at the 4. This path may be harder to pull off, but it leaves your offseason goal easier to accomplish by not searching for a 4 through free agency or trade.

This will require Detroit to move up from 21 to the 9-12 range. GS & Dallas are the likely candidates given their front office or reports has shown interest or openness to moving those picks. GS will most likely look for an experienced contributor & OKC future draft capital.
