I've been reading all the comments, messages, and DMs regarding CPS3. It's incredible to see people from around the world taking part in the beta and reliving Street Fighter III and Red Earth on #MiSTerFPGA The response has been a testament to the amazing work @topapate and his team continues to deliver. Bringing these legendary CPS3 titles to FPGA is a huge achievement, and seeing so many people enjoying them has been fantastic. Now this is what you call a raving success. I can't wait to see what's next, especially when compatibility for JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike arrives. Another outstanding achievement for Jotego and the team. Thank you to everyone participating in the beta and sharing your experiences.

Silpheed on Mega CD is often remembered for its pre-rendered 3D visuals, but the real trick is how it streams cinematic backgrounds while maintaining fast scrolling shoot ’em up gameplay. In 1993, it was one of the clearest signs Sega was experimenting with what “CD gaming” could actually mean beyond just extra audio and cutscenes.

Night Trap on Mega CD became infamous more for its politics than its gameplay. Originally developed as a quirky FMV horror-comedy, it ended up being dragged into US congressional hearings about video game violence, helping shape the creation of the ESRB rating system.

Lunar: The Silver Star on Mega CD wasn’t just a JRPG upgrade, it was one of the earliest console games to use full anime cutscenes and voice acting as a core storytelling tool. In 1992, it felt less like a game with FMV and more like an interactive anime you were slowly unlocking.

SkyGunner arrived on PS2 in 2001 and quietly disappeared. Developed by former staff from the original Ace Combat team, it traded realism for a world inspired by European adventure anime. Despite selling poorly, it remains one of the purest examples of arcade-style aerial combat on the system, and many PS2 owners have never even heard of it.

Here’s a round from a replay of one of the highest-rated matches available on @Fightcade. It’s a great example of just how beautiful this game looks when played at a high level. The movement, timing, mind games, and execution are all on full display. Even if you're not a fighting game expert, it's hard not to appreciate the skill on show here.

Steambot Chronicles lets you become a hero, a street musician, a mercenary, or just someone who ignores the main story completely. You can spend hours busking for money, tuning instruments, and taking odd jobs. In an era obsessed with cinematic storytelling, this PS2 game quietly embraced player freedom years before open-world RPGs made it fashionable.

Lifeline (Operator's Side in Japan) expected PS2 players to control the entire game with a USB microphone. In 2003, Sony published a survival horror game where shouting at an AI companion was the intended control method. Voice controls weren't the future. They were the past.

Rule of Rose became one of gaming's most misunderstood controversies. In 2006, media reports and political figures across parts of Europe condemned the game over claims of extreme content, leading to bans and cancelled releases in some regions. The irony is that many of the accusations were based on second-hand reports rather than the actual game itself. Nearly twenty years later, discussions about the controversy, censorship, and public reaction are often better known than Rule of Rose itself.

Gregory Horror Show on PS2 wasn't based on a game, it was based on a bizarre CGI TV series. The entire world is built from cube-shaped characters, yet beneath the art style is one of the strangest survival horror experiences Sony ever published.

The moment is here. Years from now, when someone asks, "Where were you when CPS3 dropped on #MiSTerFPGA?", what will your answer be? This is FPGA gaming history in the making. One of the most requested and technically ambitious arcade platforms has finally arrived. A huge thank you to @topapate for bringing these incredible CoinOp classics to the collection. Don't miss the arcade live stream happening shortly. Link in reply.
