A day in the life of an Editor-in-Chief: another satisfied reviewer - just love the Journal Miles and their benefits.

Indeed, the cover letter IS important. This is the place to explain to the editors why your work is important and relevant to the journal. Simply repeating the abstract is not useful. The abstract is often enough a summary for the specialist/expert, not for the bigger picture.
Can only agree there with my @PlantPhys editorial colleagues. As important as the other parts. At minimum it shows sufficient interest in the journal to have looked at the instructions for authors ;-) pphys.msubmit.net/cgi-bin/ma…

Matthias, really pleased that you are joining us
Just accepted an appointment as Monitoring Editor @PlantPhys. Looking forward to serving the plant science community. Don’t hesitate to send interesting manuscripts about plant-herbivore interactions, plant volatiles and plant secondary metabolites my way!
