I want my life back. I want my life before Donald back. I don’t want to know this much about politics. I want to feel safe to not have to watch the news for just one day because I fear what’s coming next from him. I am so sick of all of this and I want my damn life back.

If you thought DeSantis requiring teaching that the enslaved could “parlay” skills learned was bad. You ain't seen nothing yet. The African-American studies curriculum has been turned into conservative talking points for political posturing. Educators are required to teach that George Washington was a “key figure in the quest to end slavery.”  Let's be clear, Washington never introduced legislation, an executive order, or a handwritten note seeking to abolish slavery. He stated that whipping was “very proper.” He died owning 317 enslaved people. Educators are also required to teach “but Black people owned slaves too.” A study by Black historian Carter G. Woodson revealed that census records show the majority of Black owners of enslaved were such from the point of view of philanthropy. The husband purchased the wife, or vice versa … The enslaved of Black people were the children of a free father who had found and purchased his wife back and the children were listed as enslaved on the census.
