I've seen every episode of Taskmaster but the online fandom is especially heavy with housebound blue-haired lanyard obesity cases, so putting in Richard Ayoade and Matt Lucas is a bold move

(also I did think the next line up seems pretty old. The 2nd youngest is 47)

This is cool but must be taken in the context of about 15% of British females in this age cohort being called Laura. When my wife says "Oh I saw Laura earlier!" it could still be basically anyone
A 10-year-old girl in Staffordshire, England named Laura Buxton releases a balloon with her name and address on it in hopes of finding a penpal. The balloon comes down 150 miles away in the backyard of the home of another 10-year-old girlโ€ฆwho is also named Laura Buxton. After some confusion, the girls agree to meet.

In a quite handy calamity to befall me 1 week before Father's Day, the handle has fallen off my griddle pan while cooking a steak. Wife's over the moon that she has a nice clear present to aim for

In Zone 4 of East London this morning - when you're around here before 7am you notice so many South Asian guys who've gone almost red from a long winter on British building sites

Also the thriving 6am scene of Romanian blokes having a Red Bull cigarette espresso water all at once standing up. An earlier iteration of this crew also had a brandy with it but I think places are stricter on this now

Have been in 2 Sainsbury's in mega diverse parts of East London today, festooned with England flags, dozens in each aisle. The locals of course don't find them remotely antagonistic - that's just a bit of snide projection by the damp middle class people who find flags icky

No premium above the minimum wage for 12 hour shifts starting at 6am in a large industrial bakery, in an area where the public transport starts well after 6. The wage incentives in the British economy now are an absolute shambles

Sensible conclusion - drug addicts are pushing their bodies to the absolute limit and will sometimes just die from a gust of wind. (Hard not to ponder whether the police would have prosecuted this guy if he was a plasterer rather than a philosophy professor)

Northern Ireland is proud of its journey to peace and reconciliation - there was a hard won period of 25ish years where people weren't being targeted and butchered by strangers like this. "Oh well never mind, we've always had this" is hard to square with that...
The horrific knife attack isn't new nor "alienโ€ to NI. The Shankill Butchers were Belfast born & bred. They cut throats from ear to ear. Letโ€™s not engage in historical amnesia just because previous barbarity was never videoed nor went viral. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/commeโ€ฆ

๐ŸšจNEW: South Wales Police has just SCRAPPED their Islamic blasphemy law. No religion should be protected from criticism in this country. Now it's on the Government to repeal their Islamophobia definition and stop this happening again.
South Wales Police has instructed officers to log comments they feel are beyond "legitimate" criticism of Islam. This is, exactly as I warned, a blasphemy law through the back door. Nobody voted for this. My letter to the Chief Constable๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿพ

It is significant enough to trigger an urgent statement in the Commons, but not significant enough for the major institutions of the media to react overnight with anything much beyond 'A stabbing has occurred in Belfast'. Really strange, why did they go so quiet on it?
"It is very important in these circumstances to be absolutely sure about the facts before they are released." Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Hilary Benn responds to questions about the suspect involved in a knife attack in Belfast. trib.al/oLWrYxa ๐Ÿ“บ Sky 501

Of course the worst thing that could happen here would be people noticing this has happened or wanting to know what caused it to happen, that would be to politicise it and that's an urge that we should resist. Am I doing this right?

Something I have never quite got my head around with 2001 is how turnout dropped *12%* but only 21 of the 641 GB seats changed hands. Surely even with all the parties stable, the differential turnout should have created a higher seat churn than that?
It's amazing to think that *this* result is one of the most forgotten UK elections in recent years. A landslide as big as the last and no one talks about it. Labour only lost 7 seats and actually gained one too. Happy 25th anniversary to the 2001 general election.

This South Wales Police guidance to officers to record criticism of Islam has no basis in law and needs to be withdrawn. A ridiculous task for individual frontline officers to undertake when there is no legislative definition

In an absolute catastrophe for the British eggheads pushing the American 'Food Deserts' narrative, Nigel here just pitches up outside a pub in one of Cardiff's most far flung and deprived estates selling extremely reasonably priced vegetables every Saturday.
