They were in the night side of Earth while deploying the dummies. Would’ve had to put a power supply for a big spotlight shining back to illuminate and thrusters/gyros to orient. Doable but with another layer of complexity and it’d have taken bandwidth and introduced new failure points.
I forgive them because we’ll get to see it after they dial in the macro systems.

I expect the sector to reanalyze goalposts for AGI at each milestone. We don’t understand human consciousness.
It’s already smarter and more capable than the dumbest human.
How do you measure: “Is it alive?” Obviously that won’t mean biologically. The value set for judging a true digital birth is evolving with the tech.
I’d put the metric today somewhere at recursive self-improvement combined with agency and some version of free will, along with desire.
