Yo, I've noticed people tend to be nervous about constructive criticism. So I thought I'd make an art help thread since I actually have formal training in this!
(Permission to use example granted by @BidulesTruc, thank you!)
Now buckle up kids its gonna be long 😎✨

1. Ohhh ok first of all I love your art, the colors and expressions especially are just so good!
2. One thing you might want to try is integrating your backgrounds by making them more like an environment? (1/3)
Visual artists study masters and sometimes copy their work before developing their own style, just as musicians play the music of others before composing their own.
When I was a kid, I made up vast, intricate stories about characters from TV, film, and comics. Now I'm a writer.
Something I've learned while in law school is about the social construction of crime. I work in a legal clinic on wage theft cases, where employers have "improperly paid" workers by not paying, paying below min wage, withholding overtime, paid sick time, etc. 1/
i love it when writers are like “buhhh i should just write ROMANCE, it would be so much EASIER” as though writing a good sex scene isn’t the hardest and most terrifying thing they could ever attempt in their whole fiction-writing lives

I just read another article advocating for the “Show, don’t tell” advice you tend to hear a lot. Tell me... do you agree or disagree with this advice? Why?

As I write the outline for this #darkfantasy novel, I can't help but realize how all my plot and fight scene inspiration, consciously or unconsciously, comes from Avatar the Last Airbender.
#ATLA, still the greatest show ever.
Twice this year I've been asked about a question of the format "May you [insert task]?" For example: "May you edit this memo before I send it?" "May you meet with me tomorrow?" I'd never heard this usage before. Are others of you encountering it, and do you know its origins?
@Lit_Review has published this year’s shortlist for its #BadSex in Fiction award. I used @huggingface's "write with transformer" app to find out if #artificialintelligence would do better. The results are sometimes delightful, sometimes disturbing, always original. #deeplearning
ok i'm going to try and make this a meme, no picking 'favorites', please just list the first books you love that come to mind until you run out of characters
Also #editors, specifically #copyeditors, what is the deal with four dots in an #ellipsis? @EdwardSantella has written me this charming note explaining the rules he was taught in the 50s. As a dreaded millennial, I've never seen this usage.
@GramrgednAngel, @elrcopy, thoughts?
Last night I found out my primary partner and I have the same favorite punctuation mark.
We both love em dashes. It is MEANT TO BE.

Hey. Hey you. That mini series we’ve been teasing since the end of Season 2? Episode 1 drops this Friday. Make sure you’re subscribed on you favorite podcatcher to get it while it’s hot. If you were worried we couldn’t get weirder, don’t worry. It’s real weird.
All I want in life right now is a chest freezer, my own house to put it and my partner(s) in, and a job that gives me enough money to pay for it all and enough time to freeze and can so many peaches.
Is this absurd Y/N
I snap the bone in two and begin to scrape out its innards.
It’s the most at home I’ve felt since arriving on this planet. Who knew they had these kinds of contests here?
The Shropley Garden Show’s “Best #Marrow” competition wouldn’t know what hit it.
