Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) secara resmi mendesak pemerintah dan legislatif untuk segera merumuskan regulasi hukum yang tegas dan spesifik guna menjerat pelaku serta pengkampanye gerakan sesama jenis (LGBT) di Indonesia. ⚖️
Wakil Ketua Umum MUI, KH M Cholil Nafis, menilai absennya hukum pidana khusus (lex specialis) membuat penanganan isu ini di tingkat daerah menjadi tidak pasti dan hanya bersifat pembinaan sementara. Menurut beliau, sanksi bagi tindakan ini idealnya lebih berat dari delik perzinaan konvensional karena mengandung dua pelanggaran sekaligus: tindakan asusila dan pelanggaran terhadap kodrat kemanusiaan.
MUI menegaskan bahwa langkah ini diambil bukan atas dasar kebencian personal, melainkan sebagai fungsi perlindungan (protective measure) untuk menjaga karakter bangsa dan menyelamatkan generasi muda dari kesesatan seksual yang menular. Selain penegakan hukum dari negara, benteng utama tetap harus dikembalikan kepada ketahanan moral dan pengawasan di tingkat keluarga.
