🚨 Sale fare vs award flight to Japan
We have two nice offers:
1. Singapore Airlines’s Rs 42k fare from Mumbai
2. ANA’s Hello Blue Sale Rs 56k fare from Delhi (with 1-2 free internal flight; ending today)
In light of such fares (JAL’s discover Japan offer also comes occasionally), should you even book award tickets?
➡️ Why these sale fares are good and you should book them?
1️⃣ High taxes
The taxes and fuel surcharge has recently been more than doubled. Taxes and fees can be high as Rs 42k return.
With JL/NH, even if the mileage requirements are lower (sometimes we even get sale) it could be better to book cash only.
2️⃣ You get free domestic flights
We get 1-2 free flights. Shinkansen tickets aren’t cheap and even those are Rs 8k on popular routes
3️⃣ You get some miles for flying
SQ gives ~6k and NH about 2.5k
4️⃣ Opportunity to earn even more with accelerators
If you are ok to forgo the free domestic flight, we can even book through SmartBuy/iShop/Hopper/TravelEdge for more miles.
5️⃣ Mileage on award flights aren’t competitive (or difficult to earn)
JL/NH has competitive mileage but the taxes are Rs 42k.
UA/AC/SQ has lower taxes but mileage is high.
AI is among the better who charge 60k plus Rs 5k. Still the mileage is higher when you can get sale fares.
There are sometimes when award makes sense but for more people and most times, booking sale fares is the best way to do Japan! 🇯🇵
🚨 Mumbai to Tokyo return for Rs 42k with Singapore Airlines!
We have a great deal with Singapore Airlines for Rs 42k onwards in September and October (which is not a bad time to visit Japan).
This is much better than ANA's Hello Blue fares 🔥
✅ 5,750 SQ miles
❌ Non refundable (but SQ will refund if visa gets rejected)
