It’s been awhile since I’ve posted — didn’t want to feed this increasingly toxic beast — so it’s not as if I think I'll be missed. But seeing friends migrate elsewhere, figured I’d join them. Not sure what I’ve got to contribute, but whatever that may be, it’ll be you-know-where.

So, yeah, I planned to attend all the Patrick Marleau festivities. I've got a sense of history and I had an up-close view for much of his with #SJSharks. But after dodging that evil virus for 3 years, my turn (minor symptoms) came. And so, from quarantine, congratulations, #12.

Asked Warren once which stat was most important in evaluating a goalie's night. He said only one number really mattered: goals allowed - and your guy's number just had to be one fewer than the guy's at other end of the ice. Glad to see late #SJSharks presence get the recognition.
A well-deserved honor for our late goaltending coach, Warren Strelow. 💙

Most excellent vanity plate. Bonus points for nailing the correct multiplier.

Pretty easy to join chorus of media critics lo these many years removed from a newsroom. Passing this along because I was just bemoaning to a friend today about lack of faith in political polling and the troubling coverage it can generate. mercurynews.com/2022/10/27/o…

Upgraded uniforms and here's ex-colleague/friend Linda Zavoral telling us the same holds true for the food. Now, about the product on the ice . . . mercurynews.com/2022/10/27/s…

That puts the epicenter about 15 miles from our driveway.

And the planet just decided to remind me we live in earthquake country. No damage, but that did shake things up a bit.

Stumbled across this tonight and knew I’d stick with it till the end. Just impossible not to.

Hah. Answer to that question is a hard no. Just dive-bombing in for the day. That said, good to reconnect with a few folks from back in the day now here in new roles.

Checked out the new 4,300-seat home of the #SJBarracuda today and if it looks like a mini-version of The Tank — down to the gray seats and exposed ceiling beams — well, that’s not by accident. Cool design, nicely executed. Thanks for the tour, ⁦@SHARKSICEGM⁩.

Thinking now might be a good time to check out the #SJBarracuda’s new arena.

It’s been 36 years since @JohnHarwood and I shared a St. Pete newsroom. He went bigtime and doesn’t need validation from me. But his point that standard maxims of journalism don’t apply to the current political climate is the kind of insight we need right now. Bad move, CNN.
.⁦@JohnJHarwood⁩, the veteran journalist said the following at 1030 am today. Every word is true. Indisputably true. It is as true as the words Murrow spoke from London during the blitz and to America about McCarthy. The difference is Murrow wasn’t fired. Harwood was.

City doesn’t publicize enough. Glad you found it and are spreading the word.
There is so much fun, great public art in San Jose. It has been one of my favorite things to discover about the city. This has been my favorite since my first trip here.

#RIP. Popular guy in his own locker room, not so much if he was wearing the opposition’s jersey — and he seemed to be fine with that. Sad day.
We are heartbroken. Our deepest condolences go out to Bryan's family, friends and our Sharks community at this time.

Covered Mike Grier’s time with #SJSharks as beat guy. Admired his determination on the ice and his approachability and candor off it. Welcome back and good luck with the very tough task ahead
Sticktaps and congratulations to #SJSharks alumni forward Mike Grier on being named the new Sharks general manager as well as becoming the first Black general manager in the 105 year history of the NHL. 📸 Getty Images
