A Cal Poly team earned third place overall at the 2026 Marine Energy Collegiate Competition, a U.S. Department of Energy challenge.
Students developed solutions for marine energy applications, an emerging field focused on the world's largest untapped energy resource.

More than 300 Cal Poly Maritime Academy cadets are underway across the Pacific aboard Training Ship Golden Bear for the 2026 Summer Sea Term, the vesselâs final Pacific voyage. From Tahiti to Fiji, cadets are gaining experience at sea while continuing a decades-long tradition.
