Tonight I went to see a dear friend, born in NY. He's dying of cancer. I told him that Yankees were in the World Series against Dodgers. He said that was the best news he'd gotten today. I promised to root for the Yankees, although I usually hate them. I love my friend more.

I'm not religious but I love this Pope. A wise and thoughtful man.
In this time, so harshly marked by the violence of war and social unrest, many people wonder what the world in which their grandchildren will grow up will be like. I urge you, dear #GrandparentsAndElderlyPeople, to join me in praying earnestly that peace may soon come to the whole world. vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/eโ€ฆ

When Notre-Dame burned in 2019, the world stopped. Today, Russia damages Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a monastery nearly 1,000 years old and older than Notre-Dame itself. A thousand years of history deserves the same attention, the same sympathy, and the same protection.

I hate those CarShield commercials. I have bought a lot of new cars and never had one break down just after warranty ended. Waste of money. I do buy dependable cars (like Hondas).

So you just cut down a tree. Don't grind the stump out! You'd be bulldozing a habitat that's worth more dead than the tree was worth alive. Dead wood is one of the busiest things in a backyard habitat. When researchers trapped the insects emerging from stumps and logs just a few years into rotting, they counted close to 200 species of wood-eating beetles. And it's not a one-and-done. A stump takes a decade or more to break down, and the tenants change the whole way. Fungi move in first and soften the wood. Then the beetles and their grubs. Then salamanders, centipedes, and ants in the damp rot. Then woodpeckers, digging the grubs out. By the end it's moss and seedlings growing out of what's basically soil. No need to pay someone to grind all that out. Leave the stump where it is. If it really can't stay, have them cut it low instead of grinding it out, and let it rot in place.

Itโ€™s been 100 days since Trump started fighting a war he has no clue how to win. He can pretend he never promised no new wars. Or to lower costs. Or to bring back transparency. But the American people are smart. Weโ€™re not buying your BS @realDonaldTrump.
WELKER: What changed? You insisted 'no new wars' TRUMP: I didn't guarantee no war. Why would I have built the strongest military in the world?

"Stan Musial once joined his High School basketball teammates in threatening to forfeit an important tournament, because hotel restaurant wouldn't seat their black teammate, Buddy Griffey, father of Ken Griffey and Jr.'s Grandpa, in main dining room." "Stan Musial: An American Life" Musial Biographer George Vecsey. Ken Griffey Jr. might not be the all-time best left-handed outfielder from Donora, PA whose birthday is on November 21st!!!! Though many years separated two of Donora, Pa.โ€™s greatest, did you know that Stan Musial and Ken Griffey Jr. share birthdays and hometown? "I love Stan Musial. He was just awesome. I watched him eleven, twelve times a year. I saw him in Ebbets Field, where they called him, 'Stan the Man', because thatโ€™s what he was. 'Stan the Man' as we had named him, seemed to represent all the daily goodness of his sportโ€”the workaday regularity, the possibilities, the joy. There are a few people in the world who love being themselves, and I think Stan Musial is one of them. Stan Musial has not gotten the recognition he deserves. Musial is truly one of the great hitters. And believe me I have great admiration for Ted Williams, but if you look at the stats, Stan Musial is right there." "Stan Musial:An American Life" George Vecsey. "When I was working on the unauthorized biography, 'Stan Musial: An American Life,' which came out in 2011, old opponents recalled how Stan Musial knew their names after they had been in the majors only a few days." George Vecsey.

Hegseth has just reduced the military's list of recognized religious labels to 31. 21 are Christian denominations...whereas the 29% of nonreligious Americans have the luxury of choosing between "agnostic" and "no religion". The math isn't math-ing.

I've been watching #Rays since first pitch, but mainly from the kitchen. Steak tips with some great frozen veggies, cooked in olive oil then simmered in sodium free broth. Sautรฉed portobello mushrooms made a nice side. Now relaxing while Mrs T dozes after a tasty meal. Go Rays!
