So guys… Remember I woke up with an electric shock 12 days ago? Turns out those were warning signs. I saw wonders this morning. Last Friday, my younger sister got a mild shock from the kitchen light switch. On Saturday, my mum was washing plates and the kitchen sink shocked her. My dad and I tried it too, and it shocked us as well. At that point, I started suspecting it wasn’t the socket I originally blamed for my own shock. Maybe it was something else entirely. I also suspected an earthing issue because this never happened when we were running on generator. We called an electrician, but he said he needed NEPA light available to properly trace the fault. You know Nigeria na, Nepa kept bringing light at midnight to early morning lol. Fast forward to this morning. There was light. I was rinsing my mouth with salt water because of a sore and poured the water directly into the sink. Guys… The current from that sink joined the water and gave me a very serious shock. I called the electrician again. He said he’d be around in about an hour. I wanted to step out to buy something, but I kept procrastinating and stayed home. Then my neighbours suddenly started shouting. There was a serious fire in our circuit breaker. I rushed out and immediately changed over from NEPA. The fire stopped. Mini crowd and many side talks with fear already going on left and right I just sat there quietly afterwards thinking: What if I had left the house and locked up before it happened? The fire could have kept burning with nobody around to notice. The craziest part? We’re moving out of this house and into our family’s newly built house in just two weeks. I’m grateful it ended with a burnt breaker and not something far worse. Thank God. Rn the electrician is on it and it was from the earthing as suspected and also from substandard wire used in carrying the load of power in our flat entirely It is well.
