Here’s my review of Disclosure Day: cinemaexpress.com/english/re…
Disclosure Day left me with a lot of questions. Didn’t we have a bombshell US hearings where UFO sightings were confirmed by top tier US military personnel? And it barely made a splash. The film didn’t reflect that indifference. There’s more…I’ll come back with a detailed review

gotta give him credit: there is a montage near the end of Disclosure Day where it would have been incredibly easy for Spielberg to throw in footage from Close Encounters and ET as an "easter egg" creating a dumbass shared universe, and he doesn't do it. that's why he's my king

It's not hard to figure out that Bear is the villain of Obsession. But the most interesting thing about the film is that it shows how Bears evil entirely stems from his cowardice. Almost every decision he makes is motivated by cowardice and it unleashes great tragedy.

Bear is too much of a coward to accept rejection, own up to his mistakes, and take the effort to make things right. In how it shows consistent lack of courage spiralling into a tragic end for everybody involved, Obsession feels like an old fairy tale…

I felt like the aliens studied human history, saw how people rallied around messianic figures, and engineered Margaret with exactly the capabilities to make her look like a miracle. The people she used her powers on almost started worshipping her.

The aliens in Disclosure Day have incredible technologies. And they still rely on whistleblowers, instead of, Idk, making the people comfortable with the idea of life beyond Earth by subtly engineering pop-culture propaganda, through a genius filmmaker, over several decades?

Disclosure Day also works as an alien invasion film, in which we’re not defeated through war, but through psychological manipulation. Aliens appearing as animals to “calm us” sounds like deception. Now the final line feels chilling. “Listen” sounds like a command.

Absolutely no one in the game moves their camera around like Spielberg does. God level blocking and composition in Disclosure Day.

So it has come to my attention that a lot of people don’t even know there’s a new Steven Spielberg movie coming out. Tamil Hollywood fandom is confusing to me. I see so many Martin Scorsese and QT fanboy edits on social media but didn’t we all grow up watching Spielberg films?

I’m not saying we shouldn’t celebrate others or that we should be loyal to a director or something but it’s not like people grew out of Spielberg. No one’s gonna say they hate Jurassic park now. Spielberg was our introduction to Hollywood blockbuster cinema

…especially to people who grew up in the 90s-20s. And for a group which gets easily nostalgia baited for anything from ball ice cream to shaktimann stickers, when did we all forget Steven Spielberg?

Every time a new Spielberg drops folks come crawling out of the woodwork to make outrageous claims that he’s “overrated.” 😂 The truth is, for the vast majority of his filmography, he’s so great that we take for granted how great he truly is.

My favorite part of “Masters of the Universe” is when He-Man realizes that it was time to stop negotiating and start beating the crap out of evil. Villains don’t always need to be understood. Sometimes they just need to get kicked in the teeth.

I’d like to recommend Bi Gan’s Kaili Blues to those who are in the mood for a meditative slow burn art house film. It beautifully captures how dreams pluck thoughts, memories, and emotions (even those seemingly in the peripheries) out of your mind to create vivid imagery…

…one that betrays the true contents of your subconscious. Movies often show dreams with a surrealist approach but thats a very minuscule part of dreams. Kaili blues is much more closer to dreams in that regard. Also, the film is not exactly about dreams…

…It’s about grief regret love, so life I guess. It’s a different kind of immersive. Wonderful cinematography too, philosophical in its cyclical approach. Watch and allow yourself to ruminate over it for a while.
