The vicious knife attack in north Belfast was depraved. I commend those who acted with courage and selflessness to save the victimโs life. The perpetrator must face the full weight of the law.
The racist violence of masked Loyalists who burned families out of their homes echoes the pogroms against nationalist families in 1969. These are the same people who will burn tricolours on bonfires in July.

Groups of masked men burning families out of their homes is nothing less than disgusting cowardice.
This has nothing to do with community.
This is outright thuggery.
The attack in North Belfast was heinous and wrong.
But there are dangerous attempts to exploit that to target and attack innocent people who are simply trying to live, work and raise their families here.
Racism, intimidation and violence are wrong wherever they occur.
There can be no excuse and no justification for these attacks tonight.
No one wants to see this on our streets and I again appeal for calm.

Let's be clear - we are being asked to agree proposals in the Executive. That WILL mean scrutiny and I will take the time to do that. The Sinn Fein Minister sat on this in the Department for 2 and a half years, we have had it a few weeks.
I will always discharge my duty to scrutinise and ask questions on proposals. I have a meeting set up on Monday with Economy officials - the Sinn Fein Minister is aware of that.
The big question for Sinn Fein to answer is why there is not a single business out in support of this bill?
