One of the most fun races we attended in 2025 was the Cookie Mile in Aksarben. It returns on Saturday, June 27. Omaha Northwest is hosting a summer race series again and they're hoping to see it grow. There is no preregistration; anyone/any age can show up on the day of the race and run! Here are the dates/details. If someone does all three races, they get a t-shirt. There will be random drawings for gift cards and swag at each race as well. Ididarun 5k Race Series – Wednesdays – June 24th, July 15th, and July 29th @ 7PM. Each race costs $5. There is no pre-registration. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to run! Meet on Omaha Northwest’s front lawn. Registration 6:15PM-6:50PM and the races start at 7PM. The course is primarily on grass, but there are a couple of road crossings involving concrete.

Hurdle Nerd, aka Mike Peterson (former O'Neill coach, current O'Neill St. Mary's coach), is once again offering free hurdles clinics this summer. Our website at preprunningnerd.com/2022 has been updated with links to the 149 meets - plus State - that we've shot since March 17. Seventeen Nerds pitched in at State. We had over 30 Nerds shoot during the season. Many of them took vacation to shoot meets and spent countless evenings editing. They are unpaid rock star Nerds. With the dust settled, this is the time of year where we wonder, "Is this worth the time we spend away from our families? Are we making a difference for Nebraska T&F? Should we sit out State since that's the one meet that other media outlets cover?" Please give us your feedback in the comments below. Kearney Catholic is hosting a series of distance running eliminator races the evening of Wednesday, July 1st for runners of all ages. In addition, there will be a youth track meet and a presentation by US National team 800-meter specialist Eric Sowinski.
