Hood was always good at reading people, it helped, especially in the Royal Navy where words and actions of the court did not always perfectly align.
Sheβd played the game long enough to know.
But IronBlood was different than the RN in several ways.

Her friendship with the battleship had been a testament to that on more than one occasion.
The Iron Terror was both fearsome, but fair, and many other things. So seeing her struggle to decide if she wished to allow Hood knowledge others were not privy to touched her.
