This may be the first funding announcement that I actually rewatched.
Today, we’re announcing that we’ve closed our Series C and raised $100M to continue automating the world’s most complex phone calls. We grabbed some guy named Paul to talk about it because nobody else in the office wanted to. 🧵

Siri AI is expected to introduce a multimodal LLM layer that is deeply integrated into apple ecosystem @freecodexyz will support any open source project willing to invest, from day one, in reverse engineering the relevant macOS system APIs and runtime interfaces required to invoke apple native inference capabilities programmatically and arbitrarily we are gonna place a big bounty on this this would unlock a broad surface area for third party open source libraries capable of powering local agentic AI applications built on top of native apple infrastructure for the first time we may have high-quality OS level inference exposed through consumer operating system primitives. insane era to build with AI

first github repo successfully registered on-chain with our RIK protocol RIK certifies github repo ownership by minting a unique on-chain token only the repo owner can issue. As long as github remains a trusted issuer, a RIK can’t be forged

starting to test the first RIK primitive implementation on testnet, working as fast as possible toward a public beta RIK will be the primitive on top of which we’re going to build all $freecode and @freecodexyz protocols

that’s how it’s done
fyi the entire codebase of @freecodexyz is public, every good dev is welcome to contribute to it, i’ll share the repo soon (don’t even bother to open PRs with AI slop i’m not reviewing those)

open source just beat claude on legal tasks at 11x less cost. but who’s paying the people who maintain the models that made this possible? harvey tested open-source models against frontier ones on real legal work: • GLM 5.1 Opus advisor: higher quality AND 60% cheaper • post-trained Kimi K2.6: matched quality at $84 vs $954. 11x cheaper. > @ClementDelangue is right - the “frontier model wins everywhere” narrative is marketing. YET no one is talking about the following: > enterprises are structurally dependent on open source AI > these are production workloads running through models maintained by teams that could disappear tomorrow > there is no product today that guarantees open source infrastructure stays maintained i believe the narrative for financialization of open source is coming AND the gap between how much value open source creates how much the maintainers capture is the biggest unpriced externality in tech @paoloanzn is building toward this at @freecodexyz - financing open source engineers for verified contributions and working on a model for enterprises to guarantee maintenance of their critical dependencies. Imo this is going to be one of the defining narratives in crypto x open source. if you’re an OSS project or developer - whether you’re building for the internet economy, agentic commerce, or onchain (solana, base, or any other ecosystem)- reach out to me directly. we’re actively looking for projects to work with. DMs are open.

One step at a time. @freecodexyz will be the main catalyst of the new open source x crypto narrative.

i've been thinking about this for weeks and i think i finally have the framing right. open source software will be financialized the same way compute was. @USDai_Official turned GPUs into bankable collateral. lend against hardware, earn yield from compute revenue. that model changed how people think about physical infrastructure in crypto. i think the same playbook works for code. instead of underwriting data center operators and GPU fleet owners, you underwrite open source projects: 1/ the productive asset is a verified contribution history. 2/ the cash flow is enterprise dependency contracts - companies paying for guaranteed maintenance of repos they already depend on. 3/ the collateral is an on-chain record of what a developer ships. >> GPUs depreciate. contribution records compound. --> the first entity to price the unpriced externality of open source labor and financialize that cash flow will own a category that doesn't exist yet this is what i believe $freecode is becoming. not just a fund that pays engineers - but the financial infrastructure layer for open source labor. more. coming soon...

i’m putting my best effort to close some amazing collabs, hope i can let you know soon i’m also getting amazing feedback for $freecode litepaper. BUT the financial model described there is only the first piece, what i aim to do is much broader think about this: YOU are an institutional investor, if you understand open source value, how do you get exposure to it? what can you buy? you simply can’t do this, there is NO financial instrument for that, at best you can invest in companies that USE or DEPEND on that open source software, but now imagine there was a way to directly buy the underlying asset beneath it $freecode can be the first of a whole new category of crypto financial instruments if we execute correctly

Open source will win. The digital rails will enable new monetization opportunities. @paoloanzn is the one to build it. You better follow his journey, or you will be left behind.

Risk. Lockup. Liquidity. In DeFi, the split is rarely defined upfront. Kormos structures it explicitly with tranches ⬇️
