ALT Typically, the new Kiswah is draped over the Kaaba on the 9th of Zul Hijjah, known as the Day of Arafat. However, the management of the Kiswah factory has announced that the change will now take place on the 1st of Muharram.
The Kiswah factory has disclosed that the production of the Kaaba cover utilized 670 kg of silk. In addition to silk, approximately 120 kg of gold and 100 kg of silver were used for the intricate embellishments on the Kaaba cover. The factory has also provided technical training to 15 individuals for the process of changing the cover of the Kaaba.
It is important to note that the timing for changing the Kaaba cover was shifted from the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah to the 1st of Muharram since last year. Previously, the cover change coincided with the day of Arafat when pilgrims gathered, and the number of visitors to the Masjid al-Haram was minimal.
