When confronted with seemingly dumb, incoherent or plain contradictories, try to identify and see the incentives at play and I promise you: most of the times it makes complete sense.

They gain nothing, so they don’t do it. It’s that simple really

Imagine you were a power-hungry politician, wouldn’t you do the same? This stuff is al so incredibly obvious to anyone willing to see, yet people in real life scoff at me spelling it out for them.

Government overreach is rarely presented as what it is, but it is wrapped in a blanket of “for the common good”, eg “safety” or “to combat climate change”. Because you aren’t against safety, are you?

I am now confronted with these facts, and now I see two possible reactions: 1. I am petrified 2. I am inspired Very few will understand.

“I don’t care where poor people live, I just don’t want to pay for them to live in zone 1.”
See everyone is supposed to leave their social housing once the gentrification project is concluded so the the insecure social climbers can barge their way into the social class they think they belong to. Notting Hill did not used to be worth a million, why should they leave?

The most powerful response to disrespect is not rage. Rage tells them they found the button. It is not a speech. Speeches tell them you still want approval. The most powerful response is a clean withdrawal. Less access. Less warmth. Less availability. No announcement. A new version of you they can no longer access.

"The Ending Is Everything" -Law 29 The end of the mission is the most critical part. Even if it seems victory is secure....don't let your guard down. Entire books could be written on missions that were botched during the final steps.

They don’t understand markets. They don’t understand what they are, what they’re for, what they do. They don’t understand incentives. They don’t understand any of it.
Unpopular opinion: Landlords should not be able to increase rent unless they're upgrading the apartment.

The downside of our incredibly robust safety net system is that people like this are not bred out out the population. We have generations upon generations of people who are functionally not intelligent enough to understand how the civilization built around them works.

Why are so many rich kids commies? Because communist societies protect the elite from the creative destruction of the free market. So a rich kid raised in the elite who knows he couldn’t get their on his own merit supports a system designed to protect the elite from those with greater skill.

This is not limited to watches
don't understand the point of buying a fake luxury watch. most people don't care about watches, so the effect is lost on them. enthusiasts may spot it's a fake, so you'll feel like a fraud. people impressed by status symbols are simpletons, so their opinions hold little value.

I used to love cars and watches Now it's just cars. You can buy a fake Patek for $300, and no one would ever know. But I'd love to see someone buy a fake lambo lol

Ik, die geincentiviseerd ben om x te zeggen, zeg x, en dat is uiteraard niet omdat ik dat incentive heb!

If you have to pay a yearly fee just so they wont forceably take it from you, do you really own it?
Property taxes are a form of feudal slavery. No one should pay them because they are immoral.
