For far too many educators, their only interactions with Black, Indigenous & Brown communities are with our kids in a classroom. No real engagement with the neighborhood. Their views are oft slanted from social media and from the power they wield over other people’s children

Respect. I firmly believe you have to give respect to get it. If I want my students to respect me. I must show respect in how I prepare my lessons, my tone when I am speaking to them and my body language.
